Every Pin+Pallet box is handmade by Aisha in her home wood shop in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Each box is made from American hardwood and is centered on the acceptance of wood grain’s nature and the imperfection that come with it, keeping durability and function in mind. Pin+Pallet lids can double as cutting boards and highlight end grain and face grain designs. End grain is used in every lid as it is “self-repairing,” allowing a knife to cut between the wood fibers, not through them. Pin+Pallet boxes are not airtight, allowing air to circulate and create a controlled environment retaining bread’s original characteristics: crispy exterior, a moist crumb, and a delectable chew.

CARE

All boxes are treated with food-grade oil and must be maintained with frequent use. Regular oiling prevents boxes from becoming dry and brittle, which can cause cracking. Cutting board lids treated with oil prevent liquids from penetrating the wood, limiting warping, germs, and bacteria. Boxes and lids can be wiped down with a warm damp cloth but should never be submerged in water as this could cause warping -oil after every cleaning to keep your box for many years.

  • Do not leave in direct sunlight.

  • Do not use it in the dishwasher, oven, or microwave.

  • Store in a cool, dry location when not in use.

If your lid is tight and not in use, open it partially to allow both sides to breathe. Temperature and moisture changes happen naturally and can cause the cutting boards to warp slightly; when you allow both sides of the cutting board to breathe, the board should return to its original state. Regular oiling will also help prevent warping.
